Business Administration Apprenticeship

Based on the Cambridgeshire Business Park, in Ely, we are a well-established, sub-contract Engineering Company supplying components to the aerospace, automotive, medical and hi-tech industries.

This is an exciting opportunity to complete an Apprenticeship in Business Administration, which will give you a good basis for building your future career.

Initially, you’ll be joining our Production Planning department, with the potential to assist in other areas of the business, particularly with general administrative tasks, as needed.

You will be supported in your studies towards a Level 3 in Business Administration, which together with the practical experience you gain, will provide you with the perfect platform for an exciting career ahead.

After completion of your apprenticeship you will also be given the opportunity to complete further training.

You should have excellent attention to detail, good communication skills, a positive attitude and plenty of enthusiasm.

Although working as part of a team, we are looking for someone who has initiative and can in time manage their own workload.

Quality Engineer

Key Skills Required:

  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Excellent communication skills and can work independently and within a team.
  • Experience in investigating both internal and customer Non-conformances including root cause analysis and corrective preventative action.
  • The ability to multitask in a fast paced production environment.
  • Experience working under ISO 9001/AS9100 processes.
  • Knowledge of managing a ISO9001/AS9100 QMS and process creation would be advantageous.
  • Experience maintaining suppliers.
  • Auditing experience.
  • Inspection experience would be advantageous.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safe working practices at all times in accordance with the Health and Safety policy of the company.
  • Support production with quality feedback and improvements.
  • To promote a culture of customer focus throughout the organisation.
  • Establish and maintain quality requirements with customers.
  • Liaise with customers on resolution and corrective action implementation of quality issues.
  • Dealing with customer returns /reworks.
  • Creating and maintaining inspection plans for production.
  • Producing quality documents as required by customer specific contracts including PSW, Certificate/Declaration of Conformity, Control Plans and statistical analysis supporting Process Capability.
  • In conjunction with manufacturing staff, develop and review processes and assess effectiveness in achieving product realisation.
  • Perform product audits against customer and statutory requirements and providing internal training in this activity.
  • Maintaining a visible product traceability record system compatible with the AS9100 Quality Management System.
  • Monitoring the quality of sub-contract product and liaising with suppliers when required.
  • Managing the calibration of measuring equipment and maintaining a full equipment list in support of this activity.
  • Delivering quality training to staff as required.
  • Assist manufacturing in the deployment and maintenance of 5S workplace organisation.
  • Supporting other functions within the Quality Assurance Department as and when required.
  • Carry out any other general duties to assist in the smooth running of the company.

 

CMM Programmer

We are looking for a CMM Programmer to perform a variety of inspection and programming tasks within our Manufacturing facility.

Duties will include:

  • CMM Programming using PC DMIS and M-COSMOS.
  • Troubleshooting Issues with CMM programs.
  • Helping with Inspecting parts produced, to ensure they are of the required specification and conform to the customers’ drawings if required.
  • Meeting strict production deadlines.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of CMMs.

Sales Support Coordinator

Reporting directly to our Key Account Manager & Sales Team Coordinator, we are seeking an experienced Sales Support Coordinator to join our team.

In this role, you will provide our customers with the best possible service while actively supporting the company’s sales growth.

Previous experience of working in a manufacturing environment (ideally engineering) is preferred.

 

Key Responsibilities:
Planning and prioritising your workload, your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage the Customer Support Inbox for all customer communication and action emails accordingly.
  • Processing quotations, purchase orders and sales orders, reconciling order books, and sending/gathering customer feedback on quotations.
  • Work with Account Managers to provide any additional support as required.
  • Maintain and update data inputted into our CRM software.
  • Participating in daily production and review meetings with department supervisors.
  • Process any RMA requests and follow up accordingly.
  • Ensure any delays are communicated to the Account Manager/Customer in a timely manner.
  • Ensure any new account enquiries are passed over to the Account Managers to pursue in the timely manner.

 

About You:
To excel in this role, you should demonstrate:

  • A highly organised and methodical approach with excellent administrative skills.
  • Strong communication and influencing abilities, with the confidence to challenge constructively when needed.

Human Resource Coordinator – Maternity Cover 12-month FTC

Reporting directly to the Human Resource Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with the process of recruitment, including arranging interviews and issuing employment contracts.
  • Supporting internal and external inquiries and requests related to HR.
  • Assist the Human Resources Manager with day-to-day administrative duties.
  • Compiling and maintaining personnel records and handle personnel information in accordance with the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulations.
  • Providing payroll with employee renumeration and benefit information.
  • Support HR Manager in carrying out new starter inductions.
  • Support HR Manager to continuously monitor and review HR policies and processes and implement changes where necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with employment law requirements.
  • Coordinating management-employee communications.
  • Undertake projects, as required, to ensure the smooth running of the department.

Due to the sensitive nature of this role, you will be required to maintain absolute discretion and confidentiality and you will need the following qualities:

  • CIPD qualification or qualified by experience is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Understanding of the key principles of employment law.
  • Prior office experience is essential with at least 2 years of working in an HR Office and using HR and payroll systems along with comprehensive IT and MS Office skills.

Quotation Engineer

The ideal candidate will be Multi Skilled having a good knowledge of all elements of precision engineering, specifically towards Fabrication and Welding practices.

This role may suit someone who is looking for a career move from production to an office-based role.

Responsibilities:

  • Generate customer quotations from supplied information, while effectively obtaining all details required.
  • Drive on time delivery of quotations – recognising that pricing needs to optimise margin and profitability.

Welder / Finisher

We are looking for an experienced TIG welder/Finisher to work within our Fabrication Factory.

The ideal applicant would have knowledge and experience of general sheet metal processes to support our requirement to:

  • Accurately TIG weld stainless, mild steel, zintec and aluminium to a very high standard using a foot pedal. Typical material thickness is 1mm to 3mm.
  • You must have experience of welding box section frames and assemblies to a high standard within tight tolerances.
  • You must be competent in dressing and finishing own work to a very high standard using a variety of hand tools including electric angle grinders and pneumatic orbital sander.
  • Ensure all parts manufactured conform to the issued drawing and work instructions.
  • Ensure all tasks are completed within the planned hours allocated.
  • Be involved in developing new products in conjunction with our customer requirements for light to medium fabrications and be able to fabricate your own jigs and fixtures where applicable.
  • General sheet metal work and finishing to support the fabrication department.

About You

  • You will have a proven welding ability with a good eye for detail.
  • As we hold BSI accreditation to aerospace standard (AS 9100) you must be competent at filling in paperwork and have the ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Have the ability to interpret and follow customer drawings.
  • You will be able work accurately and to a high standard both on your own and as part of a team.
  • Have experience of working in a manufacturing or similar environment.
  • Possess a team working ethic with good communication skills.
