Sliding Head Lathe – Programmer / Setter / Operator (day shift)

We are looking for a turner capable of programming, setting and operating our 4 Star Sliding Head machines: SR20, SV20, SR32J & SR20JII type B.

Machining a wide variety of components from a range of different, and sometimes difficult materials, to tight tolerances and finishing parts to the required specification. Other aspects of the role will include:

Quick turnaround set/run on small batch quantities.

To be able to produce first run prototypes.

Oversee unmanned/lights out machining.

You will be able to read and understand complex drawings and have a good eye for detail.

Must work well within a team.

Have good problem-solving ideas.

Responsibilities:

  • Review parts produced, drawings or instructions to understand required specifications.
  • Be responsible for own quality recording outputs to drawing specifications.
  • Monitor machine while working to achieve optimum outputs.
  • Always looking for continuous improvement in all processes.

Sales Coordinator

We are seeking an experienced Sales Coordinator to join our team, reporting directly to the Sales Manager.

In this role, you will provide our customers with the best possible service while actively supporting to company’s sales growth.

Previous experience of working in an manufacturing environment (ideally engineering) is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:
Planning and prioritising your workload, your responsibilities will include:

  • Achieving agreed sales targets and driving revenue growth.
  • Managing customer requirements such as forecasts, schedules, and stock levels (min/max), while maintaining system accuracy.
  • Processing quotations and sales orders, reconciling order books, and gathering customer feedback on quotations.
  • Providing reliable and proactive support to the Sales Manager.
  • Participating in daily production and review meetings with department supervisors.

About You:
To excel in this role, you should demonstrate:

  • A highly organised and methodical approach with excellent administrative skills.
  • Strong communication and influencing abilities, with the confidence to challenge constructively when needed.
  • An eye for detail and the ability to propose practical, effective solutions.
  • A team-oriented mindset, capable of building strong working relationships internally and externally.
  • The ability to meet deadlines and work efficiently under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Experience in a manufacturing environment (ideally engineering) is preferred, and knowledge of using an MRP system is a distinct advantage.

Welder/Fabricator

We are looking for an experienced TIG welder/Fabricator to work within our Fabrication Factory.

The ideal applicant would have knowledge and experience of general sheet metal processes to support our requirement to:

  • Accurately TIG weld stainless and mild steel/Zintec as well as aluminium to a very high standard while working to engineering drawings. Typical material thickness is 1mm to 3mm.
  • You must have experience of welding box section frames and assemblies to a high standard within tight tolerances.
  • Ensuring all parts manufactured conform to the issued drawing and work instructions.
  • Ensuring all tasks are completed within the budgeted hours allocated.
  • Involvement in developing new products in conjunction with our customer requirements for light to medium fabrications and be able to fabricate their own jigs and fixtures where applicable.
  • General Sheet Metal fabrication and finishing skills to support your role as a Welder/Fabricator.

About You

  • You will have a proven welding ability with a good eye for detail.
  • As we hold BSI accreditation to aerospace standard (AS 9100) you must be competent at filling in paperwork and have the ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to interpret and follow customer drawings.
  • Ability to work accurately and to a high standard.
  • Have experience of working in a manufacturing or similar environment.
  • Possess a team working ethic with good communication skills.

Based on the Cambridgeshire Business Park, in Ely, we are a well-established, sub-contract Engineering Company supplying components to the aerospace, automotive, medical and hi-tech industries.

This is an exciting opportunity in conjunction with a local College to complete an Apprenticeship in Engineering, which will give you a good basis for building your future career.

You could be working in any of the following areas:

  • CNC Machining
  • Welding and Fabrication
  • Assembly
  • Laser Cutting
  • General Engineering

The apprenticeship

  • You will be supported in your studies towards an NVQ Level 3 in Engineering, which together with the practical experience you gain, will provide you with the perfect platform for an exciting career ahead.
  • After completion of your apprenticeship, you will also be given the opportunity to complete further training.
  • You should have an interest in engineering, a certain amount of manual dexterity, excellent attention to detail, patience, a positive attitude, and plenty of enthusiasm.
  • Although working as part of a team, we are looking for someone who has initiative and can in time manage their own workload.
  • You must be punctual, reliable, flexible, adaptable and ready to rise to each new challenge.
