Management Accountant

Shearline Precision Engineering is looking to recruit a Management Accountant, who will be the right-hand person to our Financial Controller.

We are looking to appoint an experienced and commercially minded Management Accountant who ideally has manufacturing experience.

 

The main Duties and Responsibilities will initially include:

  • Production of weekly sales and margin reports, highlighting work that is not achieving minimum profit levels.
  • Monthly Management accounts – including reconciliation of control accounts, accruals and prepayments.
  • Monthly reporting of results and variances, as well as providing relevant feedback to budget holders.
  • Investigating and analysing estimated job costs to actual.
  • Providing feedback and analysis on over-running jobs.
  • Stock Valuation– establishing and updating standard costs, reporting and investigating slow moving stock, identifying and reporting over-runs, supporting the rolling stock take process.
  • Processing and reconciliation of VAT Returns.

 

As a large sub-contract organisation, we manufacture a diverse and numerous range of parts to customer specification, so a good understanding of BOMS and Routers is key. We are a small finance team and there will be occasions where cover is needed for more transactional tasks such as sales invoicing, daily cash flows and updating bank transactions.

The ideal candidate would have manufacturing experience and an understanding of BOMS and Routers, they will be quick to learn and not afraid to ask questions. Attention to detail is a must.

CNC Miller – Programmer/Setter/Operator – Night shift

Would you like to work 37½ hours over 3 Nights (Monday – Wednesday)? If yes, then this could be your ideal role.

We are looking for a CNC Miller ideally with Programming skill or as a minimum top class setting skill to operate a variety of 3,4 and 5 axis milling machines.

The ideal candidate should have experience of Fanuc controls, or similar. The ability to program components either at the machine or using an offline CAD system (OneCNC) would be an advantage.

You will be able to read and understand complex drawings and have a good eye for detail.

Must work well within a team.

Have good problem-solving ideas.

Responsibilities:

  • Review parts produced, drawings or instructions to understand required specifications.
  • Be responsible for own quality recording outputs to drawing specifications.
  • Monitor machine while working to achieve optimum outputs.

5-Axis CNC Miller – Programmer/Setter/Operator

Would you like to work 37½ hours over 4 days (Monday – Thursday)? If yes, then this could be your ideal role.

We are looking for an experienced CNC Miller, with excellent Programming & setting skills to join our small team operating our three Matsurra 5 axis milling machines.

The ideal candidate should have experience of Fanuc controls and have the ability to program components offline using our CAD/CAM systems (HyperMill or OneCNC).

You must be able to read and understand complex drawings and have an excellent eye for detail.

Must work well within a team.

Have good problem-solving ideas.

Engineering Apprenticeships for 2025

Based on the Cambridgeshire Business Park, in Ely, we are a well-established, sub-contract Engineering Company supplying components to the aerospace, automotive, medical and hi-tech industries.

This is an exciting opportunity in conjunction with a local College to complete an Apprenticeship in Engineering, which will give you a good basis for building your future career.

You could be working in any of the following areas:

  • CNC Machining
  • Welding and Fabrication
  • Assembly
  • Laser Cutting
  • General Engineering

The apprenticeship

  • You will be supported in your studies towards an NVQ Level 3 in Engineering, which together with the practical experience you gain, will provide you with the perfect platform for an exciting career ahead.
  • After completion of your apprenticeship, you will also be given the opportunity to complete further training.

Sliding Head Lathe – Programmer / Setter / Operator (day shift)

We are looking for a turner capable of programming, setting and operating our 4 Star Sliding Head machines: SR20, SV20, SR32J & SR20JII type B.

Machining a wide variety of components from a range of different, and sometimes difficult materials, to tight tolerances and finishing parts to the required specification. Other aspects of the role will include:

Quick turnaround set/run on small batch quantities.

To be able to produce first run prototypes.

Oversee unmanned/lights out machining.

You will be able to read and understand complex drawings and have a good eye for detail.

Must work well within a team.

Have good problem-solving ideas.
