Welder/Fabricator

We are looking for an experienced TIG welder/Finisher to work within our Fabrication Factory.

The ideal applicant would have knowledge and experience of general sheet metal processes to support our requirement to:

  • Accurately TIG weld stainless, mild steel, zintec and aluminium to a very high standard using a foot pedal. Typical material thickness is 1mm to 3mm.
  • You must have experience of welding box section frames and assemblies to a high standard within tight tolerances.
  • You must be competent in dressing and finishing own work to a very high standard using a variety of hand tools including electric angle grinders and pneumatic orbital sander.
  • Ensure all parts manufactured conform to the issued drawing and work instructions.
  • Ensure all tasks are completed within the planned hours allocated.
  • Be involved in developing new products in conjunction with our customer requirements for light to medium fabrications and be able to fabricate your own jigs and fixtures where applicable.
  • General sheet metal work and finishing to support the fabrication department.

About You

  • You will have a proven welding ability with a good eye for detail.
  • As we hold BSI accreditation to aerospace standard (AS 9100) you must be competent at filling in paperwork and have the ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Have the ability to interpret and follow customer drawings.
  • You will be able work accurately and to a high standard both on your own and as part of a team.
  • Have experience of working in a manufacturing or similar environment.
  • Possess a team working ethic with good communication skills.

CNC Turner – Programmer / Setter / Operator

We need a highly skilled CNC Turner to program, set, and run our twin-spindle, driven tool lathes, all with a Fanuc based control system. The successful applicants should have served an apprenticeship or gained a high level of experience in machining.

A good understanding of HyperMILL Programming software or a similar CAD/CAM system will be needed.

The successful candidate must have a comprehensive knowledge of the milling strategies required on these machines, as well as having excellent turning capabilities.

You must be able to work to tight tolerances and be responsible for the quality of your own work.

You must be able to read and understand complex drawings and have a good eye for detail.

The ability to work well within a team and have good problem-solving ideas is also essential.

Although you will be working as part of a team you will need to work on your own initiative, with minimal supervision.

This is an exciting opportunity in conjunction with a local College to complete an Apprenticeship in Engineering, which will give you a good basis for building your future career.

You could be working in any of the following areas:

  • Welding and Fabrication
  • Assembly
  • Laser Cutting
  • General Engineering

The apprenticeship

  • You will be supported in your studies towards an NVQ Level 3 in Engineering, which together with the practical experience you gain, will provide you with the perfect platform for an exciting career ahead.
  • After completion of your apprenticeship, you will also be given the opportunity to complete further training.
  • You should have an interest in engineering, a certain amount of manual dexterity, excellent attention to detail, patience, a positive attitude, and plenty of enthusiasm.
  • Although working as part of a team, we are looking for someone who has initiative and can in time manage their own workload.
  • You must be punctual, reliable, flexible, adaptable and ready to rise to each new challenge.
