Account Manager/Production Planner

Would you like to change your work/life balance and only work your full-time hours over 4 days a week and have a 3-day weekend, with flexible start and finish times to suit you?   If yes, then this could be your ideal role.  We are looking for a highly motivated and dedicated individual to plan the flow of work through our busy SXL division and ensuring that customer delivery dates are met, as well as liaising with our customers, processing orders and enquiries

With a wide variety of products from a large customer base, including one off and prototype jobs, will ensure that no two days are the same.

The Role of Account Manager/Production Planner will:

  • Load Sales Orders onto the system
  • Acknowledge Sales Orders once agreed with Production.
  • Ensure ‘required by’ dates for castings are added to Sales Orders to ensure delivery dates are met.
  • Raise and print Works Orders.
  • Process timesheets
  • Book in and issue castings to Production.
  • Scan casting delivery notes on to the system and file them appropriately.
  • Ensure that the order book is accurately maintained in a timely manner with all relevant information.
  • Maintain works orders and ensure accurate delivery dates are recorded and adjusted where appropriate.
  • Ensure labour bookings are clean and accurate so costings pull through accurately to Accounts.
  • Book in works orders
  • Dispatch orders.
  • Scan works orders and save to Mie Trak.
  • Deal with general enquiries as appropriate, both internally and externally.
  • Adjust works order routing to take in to account any changes in the manufacturing process
  • Raise Purchase Orders for tooling and materials.
  • Send weekly order book update to customers
  • Keep routers up to date with correct work centres.

About You:

  • Highly organised and methodical with excellent Administration skills.
  • You will be a strong, clear communicator with good influencing skills, and not afraid to challenge people where necessary.
  • Keen eye for detail, with the ability to propose practical solution.
  • A team player with the ability to build strong working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Proactive, resilient, and highly organised
  • Work to and achieve deadlines.
  • Ideally you will come from a Manufacturing or Engineering based background, but this is not essential.
  • Good working knowledge of various Microsoft Office tools, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge and use of MRP packages would be a distinct advantage.

CMM Programmer

We are looking for a CMM Programmer to perform a variety of inspection and programming tasks within our Manufacturing facility.

Duties will include:

  • CMM Programming using PC DMIS.
  • Inspecting all parts produced, in order to ensure they are of the required specification and conform to the customers’ drawings.
  • Checking parts with tight tolerances to ensure such parts are correct for the customer.
  • Completion of first article dimension reports; capability studies; control plans and part submission warrants and preparing and maintaining non-conformance reports/ records.
  • Communication by telephone and e-mail to suppliers.
  • Experience of completing FAIRs to the requirements of AS 9100.
  • Meeting strict production deadlines.

Welder/Fabricator

Would you like to work full time but have a 3-day weekend every week? Would you also like to work in a well-lit air-conditioned workshop? If so Shearline are looking for an experienced Welder/Fabricator to strengthen our team within our busy Fabrication department. The ideal Welder/Fabricator applicant would have knowledge and experience of general sheet metal processes to support our requirements

Duties will include:

  • Accurately TIG weld stainless and mild steel as well as aluminium to a very high standard while working to engineering drawings.
  • Ensuring all parts manufactured conform to the issued drawing and work instructions.
  • Ensuring all tasks are completed within the budgeted hours allocated.
  • Involvement in developing new products in conjunction with our customer requirements for light to medium fabrications and be able to fabricate their own jigs and fixtures where applicable.
  • General Sheet Metal fabrication and finishing skills to support your role as a Welder/Fabricator.
  • Experience of MIG welding would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will have the following attributes:

  • You will have a proven welding ability with a good eye for detail.
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to interpret and follow customer drawings
  • Ability to work accurately and to a high standard.
  • Have experience of working in a manufacturing or similar environment.

Engineering Assistant – Stores

We are looking for an Engineering Assistant to perform a variety of tasks within our busy Stores area.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To prepare materials for production in accordance with drawings and works orders using powered sawing equipment.
  • To assist in general stores duties.
  • Pick and pack product to company standards.
  • Produce Delivery notes and Invoices for product being dispatched.
  • Checking stock quantities both in and out of stores.
  • To keep materials and equipment stored with due regard to Health & Safety.
  • To carry out spot checks when required.

Assembly Engineer

We are looking for an Assembly Engineer to perform a variety of electro-mechanical engineering tasks within our busy assembly area.

Duties will include:

  • General Electro-Mechanical Engineering duties including assembling components to customer drawings.
  • Experience of manual Milling and Turning.
  • Knowledge of brazing processes.
  • Making jigs as appropriate.
  • Devising Engineering solutions to aid the assembly process.
  • Assist other members of your team as and when necessary.
  • Help identify ways in which processes may be improved, including reduction of set up times.
  • Ensuring finished products are packaged appropriately and ready for dispatch to the customer on time.
  • Ensure all company standards are promoted and maintained.
  • Ensure safe working practices at all times.
  • Ensure commitment and application of the company Quality, Environmental and HS Policies.
  • Carry out any other duties that may from time to time be reasonably requested to assist in the day to day running of the company.

The successful candidate will have the following attributes:

  • Toolmaking experience including manual milling and turning.
  • Enjoy the challenge of devising practical Engineering solutions to a variety of Assembly issues.
  • A flexible attitude to work as you will be undertaking various activities within the department.
  • Experience of electrical or mechanical assembly.

Paint Shop Assistant

Due to an increase in demand Shearline are looking for a Paint Shop Assistant to support our existing team and to train and develop their skills to become a skilled powder coat finisher.  Our Paint Shop team work closely together in our clean, well-lit paint shop to achieve a high degree of finish to meet our customer requirements:

Our Paint Shop Assistant will:

  • Clean parts pre paint
  • Accurately mask a variety of parts to our customer specification
  • Carefully unmask parts after painting
  • Clean parts post paint
  • Tap holes as required
  • Wrap & pack parts after painting

You will also be required to carry out other duties in the Fabrication and Assembly area, when time allows.

About You:

 Based on the Cambridgeshire Business Park, in Ely, we are a well-established, sub-contract Engineering Company supplying components to the aerospace, automotive, medical and hi-tech industries.

This is an exciting opportunity to complete an Apprenticeship in Business and Administration, which will give you a good basis for building your future career.

You could be working in any of the following areas;

  • Supply Chain
  • Customer Support
  • Sales
  • Finance
  • General Administration

You will be supported in your studies towards an NVQ Level 3 in Business and Administration, which together with the practical experience you gain, will provide you with the perfect platform for an exciting career ahead.

After completion of your apprenticeship you will also be given the opportunity to complete further training.

You should have excellent attention to detail, good communication skills, a positive attitude and plenty of enthusiasm.

This is an exciting opportunity in conjunction with a local College to complete an Apprenticeship in Engineering, which will give you a good basis for building your future career.

You could be working in any of the following areas;

  • CNC Machining
  • Welding and Fabrication
  • Assembly
  • Laser Cutting
  • General Engineering

You will be supported in your studies towards an NVQ Level 3 in Engineering, which together with the practical experience you gain, will provide you with the perfect platform for an exciting career ahead.
